Mechanical Technician
Location: CA - Pasadena
Reports to: Senior VP Operations

Position Purpose:
This position requires the applicant to work with the Engineering team to operate, maintain, and improve software driven electro-mechanical devices. The primary responsibility of the engineering technician will be to setup and run experiments according to test plans and keep the lab and machines in good working order.
Key Position Accountabilities:
- Provide routine technical support for area of assignment under supervision.
- Fabricate, assemble, test, install, and general maintenance and repair of various mechanical equipment.
- Install prototype equipment into existing systems/platform configurations and subsystems.
- Conduct mechanical testing of components, assemblies and complete systems.
- Troubleshooting, testing and performing precision measurements on a variety of mechanical equipment requiring the use of oscilloscopes, lathes, mills and multi meters, etc.
- Construct, adapt and modify mechanical-electronic assemblies, systems and subsystems to troubleshoot and correct malfunctions.
- Develop procedures for finished work and enter into a database.
- Assist in design of equipment and systems; construction and assembly of experimental and support equipment.
- Procure and maintain inventories of small parts, supplies, materials, and equipment.
- Abide by all environmental, safety, and health regulations.
Requirements:
- Formal training/degree or 4 years experience in technical or science field.
- Hands on electro-mechanical assembly using hand and power tools.
- Troubleshooting and repair skills.
- Organized and methodical in carrying out test plans and calibration procedures.
- Computer literate in Word and Excel.
- Ability to work with infrequent direct supervision.
- Keep work area organized and implement/practice safety standards.
Preferred experience
- Setting up data acquisition systems.
- CAD design experience.
- CNC machine operation experience.
- Scripting experience in either Python or Perl.
- 2D or 3D printing equipment maintenance experience a plus.
- Soldering and basic electronic assembly/troubleshooting, and electronic testing with a DMM or Oscilloscope.
