THE 'END OF THE ROAD' OR A NEW BEGINNING?

As we promised in our June newsletter we have carefully guarded our cash, kept our heads down and continued the search for the best financial alternative for Desktop Factory. We have been relentless in this effort and we have considered and pursued every conceivable avenue, a number of which were recommendations from some of you, but we have not been able to secure the necessary funding for the company.

As we drew closer to our last 30 days of cash we turned to our 'end of the road' strategy, the sale of the business or, at a minimum, the sale of our intellectual property. And make no mistake about it we did view this as our worst case scenario; the end, a complete loss for us, for the product and for you, our supportive and valued customers.

But a funny thing happened as we launched our effort to sell Desktop Factory. We found interested parties who do understand the exciting potential for this breakthrough technology. We found companies that value the industry and can visualize the myriad applications for this affordable printer. Most important, we have found organizations that engage with customers and truly want to be a part of this next major wave in additive fabrication.

And, along the way we have found the best opportunity to place the assets, the intellectual property and many of our people with a leadership brand; a company with the resources and the desire to deliver on the promise of a truly low cost, easy to use 3D printer. We are cautiously optimistic that we can successfully conclude this sale of Desktop Factory within the next 30 days.

BUT WHAT ABOUT YOU?

We will continue to need your support. You should know that one of the most powerful assets in this transaction is something that can not be bought or sold and that asset is you. The company we are working with understands your commitment to Desktop Factory and they feel a responsibility to build on the foundation we have laid. Over time they intend to earn your loyalty through their actions; including the delivery of the first ever sub $5,000 3D printer.

In the interim, for all of you who had placed deposits, we have issued refunds in the form of checks that you should have received by the first week of August. Thanks to those of you who have already written us upon the receipt of your refund. For anyone who has not yet received a check, please feel free to email me. We will also be contacting all of you with outstanding purchase orders.

NEXT STEP

Our objective is to close the sale of Desktop Factory within the next 30 days. We look forward to sharing the complete back story with you on the new owner and how they will continue to keep this exciting conversation going.

Thanks again for your ongoing support and commitment. We are surprised but delighted with the road we are now on — where we can again see the future of affordable, accessible 3D printing. We will keep you posted and continue to respond to your emails and calls, usually within 24 hours.
